Postdoctoral position at the Laboratory of Pohang Emergent
Materials (L-PEM), POSTECH in Korea.
(Materials Synthesis and Single crystal growth)
Salary: $32K (36 million Korean won) to $36K (40 million
Korean won).
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position for the
synthesis of novel materials in the form of bulk
polycrystalline materials and single crystals. Applicants
should have a PhD in physics, chemistry, or materials science
with an extensive experience on materials synthesis,
especially single crystal growth with various techniques.
Since most of synthesized materials are characterized in terms
of physical properties such as magnetic and transport
properties, it is useful to have general knowledge on physical
properties as well. The position will be available from Nov.
1. 2013. The successful candidate will work at L-PEM under the
supervision of Prof. Sang-wook Cheong (Director of L-PEM as
well as Rutgers Center for Emergent Materials (R-CEM), Rutgers
University in USA).
L-PEM is a world-renowned materials synthesis lab at the
Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), South
of Korea. It is equipped with about twenty furnaces including
one optical floating zone furnace as well as the materials
ysis facilities such as a X-ray Diffractometer (X’pert,
Pytical) and polarized optical microscopes. L-PEM
collaborates with many other famous labs all over the world
for the cutting edge research of condensed matter physics, and
has been playing the pivotal role in a world-wide research
network.
