This is particularly important for high-technology goods and services. China-UK collaboration in intellectual property is led by the UK’s Intellectual Property Office (IPO) with support from the British Embassy in Beijing. The protection of intellectual property in China benefits both UK and Chinese companies.
The Senior IP Liaison Officer will be expected to engage in dialogue with relevant Chinese authorities and promote the UK’s IP interests in collaboration with other UK government departments - working particularly closely with UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) and the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS).
The Senior IP Liaison Officer will do this by:
Building relationships and engaging with stakeholders and policymakers in China, enabling us to help shape the debate on IP;
Sound ysis and advice: providing clear, well researched and influential advice to the British Government and to UK businesses operating, or wishing to operate, in China.
Representing the IPO and communicating clearly and persuasively to raise the profile of, and engage in, the public debate on IP in China;
Delivering the UK’s International Strategy on IP and IP-related issues in China, spotting new and emerging trends and driving implementation of the strategy.
