URUMQI - China's northwestern Xinjiang has made all necessary preparations to host a "safe and productive" China-Eurasia Expo, a top official of Urumqi said on Saturday.
The second China-Eurasia Expo will be held in Urumqi, capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, from September 2 to 7.
Zhu Hailun, secretary of the Urumqi city committee of the Communist Party of China, said the city's government has boosted security, made overhauls of the city's environment, improved traffic order and enhanced services at expo venues.
"The city has made all necessary preparations to make the second China-Eurasia Expo a safe, pragmatic, festive and impressive one," Zhu said.
The China-Eurasia Expo was upgraded from a regional trade fair, the 19-year-old China Urumqi Foreign Economic Relations and Trade Fair, in September 2011 when the first expo was held.
