BEIJING - China opposes official contacts and development of substantial relations between the United States and , said Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokean Hong Lei on Thursday.
China's position is consistent and clear for US- relations, he added.
Hong made the remarks in response to the report that Dawn L. McCall, Coordinator for International Information Programs of the US State Department had visited recently. She had also met with senior officials including leader Ma Ying-jeou.
China urges the U.S. to adhere to the One-China policy and the three Sino-US joint communiques, said the spokean.
"The US side should address issues related to appropriately and stop any form of official contacts with , so as to avoid damaging the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations and Sino-US relations," Hong said.
