Post doc in computational design of multicellular systems
In the frame of a collaborative project between INRIA (Paris), Verimag (Grenoble) and MIT (Boston), we are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to work on computational design of multicellular systems. The goal of the project is to engineer a genetic system enforcing artificial tissue homoeostasis.
The postdoc will be in charge of developing novel computational approaches for guiding tissue design, and of applying them to assist the experimental work currently done in the Weiss Lab. From a methodological point of view, this task consists in computing abstract cell population models from (a population of) single cell models.
The research will be carried out at INRIA Paris. The Contraintes research group has a solid expertise in the development of computational methods for the modeling and ysis of biomolecular systems. Together, the Bang research group (tissue models), the Verimag lab (formal methods), the Weiss lab (synthetic biology), and our group form a strong consortium that offers an exciting environment for interdisciplinary research.
The candidate should have a background in computer science, applied mathematics/engineering, or computational biology. The ideal candidate will have expertise in the ysis of stochastic dynamical systems, modeling in systems and synthetic biology, and programming.
The position is for 2 years and is expected to start in April 2011. The amount of the fellowship is competitive and varies according to previous experience.
