Scholarship Description:
We offer a post-doctoral position to study the design and development of new preparative routes for the synthesis of iron oxide nanoparticles in aqueous and organic media. Surface modification and colloidal characterization of ferrofluids for biomedical applications will be also investigated. Magnetic and structural characterization of powders and fluids by TEM, SEM, V, DLS will also be accomplished. The work will be performed in the frame of a Collaborative European research project in the next 4 years (2011-2014) with industrial, hospital and research partners. The contract will start on January 2011 or a few months in advance depending on availability of the candidate.
We are looking for applicants with a Chemistry degree and experience in nanoparticle synthesis and structural/magnetic characterization. A good publication record, fluent English, communication skills and enthusiastic are also required. Applicants should be flexible and have the ability to work independently.
