The police said that it tracked down the man suspected of driving the truck with a damaged brake hub that led to the death of a bus driver in Jiangsu province.
The truck driver and the red Dongfeng truck were found by police in Yichun, Jiangxi province, on June 6, the Nanjing-based Yangtze Evening News reported.
The truck driver told the police that he does not know anything about the accident, the paper said. It is not known yet if the driver will face criminal charges, the paper added.
Meanwhile, an official from the Wuxi public security bureau told the China Daily on June 8 that the police are still investigating the case.
Bus driver Wu Bin, 42, was fatally wounded when a 3.5-kg fragment of metal came hurtling at his bus from the oncoming side of the road. Despite his injuries, he managed to safely stop the vehicle and ensure his 24 passengers escaped unharmed.
He died in a hospital on June 1 and was hailed as a national hero. His family was granted a number of awards.
The truck found by the police was fitted with a new brake drum on June 1.
