Our laboratory is interested in the neural basis of stimulus-driven behaviors. As a model, we study the mammalian sense of ell. Our goal is to understand the principles of sensory processing that link odor-evoked neural activity with olfactory-driven behaviors.
To address this problem, we use transgenic mice with defined genetic perturbations in the expression of odorant receptor genes. We employ in vivo two-photon microscopy to reveal how perturbations in sensory input affect the representation of odors at higher olfactory centers in the cortex, and we characterize their behavioral consequences.
The CIRB is a recently established research institute in life science at the College de France in Paris. It offers state-of-the-art facilities and a vibrant scientific community with close interactions with the Ecole Normale Superieure and the Curie Institute.
