The Center for Biological Sequence ysis at the Technical University of Denmark was formed in 1993, and conducts basic research in the fields of bioinformatics and systems biology. The center is divided into eleven specialist research groups, has a highly multi-disciplinary profile (biologists, biochemists, MDs, physicists, statisticians, and computer scientists) with a ratio of 2:1 of bio-to-nonbio backgrounds. CBS represents one of the large bioinformatics groups in academia in Europe.
The successful candidate will be working with a core facility and in close collaboration with the Center for Biological Sequence ysis and is expected to have the following skills and fulfil the following duties.

Skills

  • Must have a good working knowledge of at least one POSIX system (UNIX, Linux, or BSD)
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language frequently used in data ysis and bioinformatics (Python, R, or other)
  • Must be a good communicator and be able to work in an interdisciplinary environment
  • Very good working knowledge of data ysis and statistical methods used in genomics and bioinformatics (e.g., bioconductor packages)
  • Working knowledge of relational databases
  • Knowledge of at least one compiled language would be appreciated (C, C++, Java, or other) would be appreciated
Duties
  • Perform or contribute data ysis and bioinformatics to a wide range of research biology-oriented projects, ranging from all investigative early research to large undertaking within world-class consortia publishing in the very best journals
  • Contribute to the development of ysis tools, and eventually carry on methodological research
  • Handle data from cutting-edge technologies in the laboratory
  • Communicate results with biology experts and technologists
Qualifications
Candidates for the Postdoc position should have a PhD degree or equivalent
Candidates for the Research Assisant position should have a master’s degree in engineering or equivalent.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.
