Thus, the differences in cure rates were
greater in the comparisons where the expected difference
in the degree of acid inhibition was maximum. In
this regard, it has been shown that the time of pH
above 4 was 20–50% longer with standard dose of
new PPIs, rabeprazole or esomeprazole, than with
first-generation ones.18 Taking into account that the
pH scale is logarithmic this difference in acid inhibition
is far greater than one may intuitively expect. |
